From the Pastor
Hailing from six generations of Sisk ministers, I grew up hearing and memorizing many great Christian songs, hymns, and even some good ole "meetin’ music." One of my favorites describes my surreal experience in the call of God on my life: "I am not worthy the least of His favor."
Why would Father bless me with such a privilege to serve this wonderful young church? If you know me, you may be asking the same question! I am not worthy. But He alone is worthy of our worship and honor and praise. And we who place our faith and trust in Christ Jesus become worthy.
God is the audience in our worship, which takes place in a familiar sacred setting with hymnals and inspiring music. The Bible is preached from the pulpit and we make no apologies for it. We do not try to appeal through multiple worship styles and recognize there are many styles and tastes for all types of people. Our goal is to enhance the worship of God and be encouraged to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all we encounter.
When I visit those who visit us, the most common thing I hear is, "I was surprised how friendly and warm everyone was to me. I’ll have to go again to see if it was real! It felt like going home."
The reason for this is that we are not concerned about who "joins" the church; that is the work of the Holy Spirit. We are very concerned about the Great Commission of Christ and making disciples to take up His ministry. We are interested in ministering to those the Lord leads here. If you sense the Lord calling you to come and worship here, that is our invitation. You are welcome here.
My favorite expression is, "It is not about us; it is all about Him!" With gratitude for His forgiveness, delighted by His grace, amazed by His mercy, and humbled by His love, we strive to keep our "eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."
