MUSIC MINISTRY

This ministry exists to enhance and facilitate corporate worship, to develop individual gifts for ministry, to promote stewardship of those gifts, and to pass on the Gospel through the powerful medium of music and the arts.
Take just a few moments and check out the opportunities for service and development offered to you and your family by the music ministry of Anchor Baptist Church.

Sanctuary Choir – The primary choir for our Sunday morning services of worship. Seasonal musicals include Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:30. Any singer is welcome.  Conducted by Dr. Peters.
Chamber Choir – This group is for highly motivated singers who seek to stretch their abilities by singing challenging repertoire. The Chamber Choir sings during Advent, our Christmas Eve service, Holy Week, Easter and other times. Another goal for this choir is touring to other churches and other countries. Auditions are required for this ensemble. Dr. Peters conducts.
Instrumental Ensemble – Instrumentalists of intermediate or better skills are invited to accompany our Sunday morning services of worship.
Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 6:30. Conducted by Dr. Peters.
For children we offer a fully graded choir program. These groups provide young ones with a well rounded curriculum for musical and spiritual formation. More than just teaching cute songs by rote, this program seeks to develop musicians. We desire to help children unlock their musical abilities and to provide avenues for meaningful participation in worship. These values will last for a lifetime! Choirs for children include:
Young Musicians – for 4th through 6th graders.
Anchor Boy Choir – for boys 6 years old through voice change. This group sings several times a year particularly at Advent, Christmas and Easter. Dr. Peters conducts this choir.
Music Makers – for 5 years through 3rd graders.

DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is a vital ministry of Anchor Baptist Church and we take this responsibility very seriously. Jesus’ final command before His ascension dictates that we “make disciples” (Matthew 28:19-20). Our passion for discipleship and mentoring is born from this mandate.

In order to help Christians grow in their faith, we have created the Christian Life Academy. CLA offers a course of study that will help believers find greater depths in understanding and practice of worship, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and ministry. Recent classes have included:

Journey to Jesus (Mentoring – Discipleship and Evangelism)
Rediscovering the Missing Jewel (Worship)
Worship and Church History (Worship)
Shepherding a Child’s Heart (Parenting)
The Truth Project
Various Beth Moore Studies

CLA classes are offered on Sunday evenings on the first months of each quarter (January, April, July and October). Our faculty includes staff members and well-qualified lay people.

Other classes and small group studies are offered during the year. Several Beth Moore studies have been featured.

For more information about upcoming classes and events, please call the church office, 859-296-1214
