Music Ministry

Music at Anchor Baptist is held in high esteem. We believe using our voices and musical talents is integral to corporate worship. As a result, our music ministry exists to enhance and facilitate corporate worship, to develop individual gifts for ministry, to promote stewardship of those gifts, and to pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ through the powerful medium of music.

Our Sunday Worship Service is surrounded by great music that includes organ and piano, an adult sanctuary choir, youth choir, and children's choir, along with occasional solos, duets, quartets or small groups. In addition, these vocal ensembles are sometimes augmented by individual instrumentalists, ensembles, and occasionally orchestral groups.

There are many opportunities for you to share and develop your musical talents here at Anchor.

Sanctuary Choir
Leads in worship almost every Sunday. Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:30-9:00 p.m.
Dr. Carl Peters is the director.

Chamber Choir
A small group of highly motivated singers who will take on sometimes more complex,
classical or contemporary sacred music. Rehearsals vary with seasons and need.
Dr.  Carl Peters is the director.

Children's Choir
An inviting introduction to worship through music. Includes age-appropriate traditional
hymns, along with classic and contemporary sacred music which often includes tone
chimes, hand bells, and other small instruments. Children participate in worship at
various times throughout the year, especially at Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals are
Wednesdays, 6:00-6:45 and generally follow the Fayette County Public School
calendar. Lead by a dedicated group of volunteer musicians and music lovers for
grades K-5.
